MELTON MOWBRAY
Melton Mowbray is a town of Leicestershire in England. It is popularly called the `Rural capital of food’ and it is famous for its Stilton cheese and Pork pies. Stilton cheese gets its name, from village Stilton, which is, situated about 80 miles to the north of London. Over here, marketing of the cheese is done but the cheese is not made in this village. The origin of the famous phrase `painting the town red’ can be traced back to Melton, somewhere in the year 1837. The marques of Melton was well known for his fox hunting and it is said that after one of their victorious hunting days, while they were celebrating they happened to stumble on tins of red paint and they painted the buildings of high street. The traces of those red paints can be seen to this day on the doors of some old buildings.
