Keighley
Keighley is a beautiful town in the metropolitan borough of the City of Bradford in West Yorkshire. It is situated in the scenic confluence of the rivers Aire and Worth. A Knight, Henry de Kighley, established the town during the reign of King Edward in 1305. It became a municipal borough from 1882 and later merged with borough of Bradford. Textile industry is the base of the economy in this town. To the south, it is bounded by the city of Bradford.
East Riddlesden Hall, Cliffe Castle and Whinburn Mansion are some of the Victorian buildings that have stood the test of time. The town has a vibrant music circuit with lots of bands playing in the various halls. The British rock bands, Skeletal Family and Terrorvision, had their origins in Keighley. It has one of the oldest cinema halls known as the Keighley Picture House. The town also has a sizeable Muslim population, which has migrated from Pakistan and Bangladesh. The lure of the textile industry was the driving force behind this immigration.
