Banbury

The market town of Banbury is located on the banks of river Cherwell in the Cherwell district in Oxfordshire, England. The town situated approximately 100 kilometres from London is on equidistance from other important cities of Birmingham and Coventry. The town is a hub for retail and commercial activity, which mainly consists of car components manufacturing, food processing industry, printing and electrical goods manufacturing. It is also a base for world’s largest coffee processing facility of the company ‘Kraft Foods”.

The town of Banbury was developed under the influence of Danish rulers who built the city on the banks of river Cherwell. The town has relative importance in the history as the Battle of Edge Hill was planned in one of the back rooms of a city motel. According to historical records, the entire town on Banbury was destroyed in a devastating fire in 1628, which completely engulfed all the buildings of the town barring a few. Those building are still being preserved as historical places for visitors to see.

Apart from all these, the town also has a host of art galleries and historical monuments, which attracts hoards of travellers in the summer.
